The mobile division of Samsung launched an ad campaign on Saturday
via TV and social media sites announcing that the company will launch a
new phone series in India.
"The wait's over. Here's a sneak peek of what you've been waiting for. @amazonIN ready to #BringItOn?"
-- reads the Samsung advertisement posted on Twitter. The message comes
with a 10-seconds video teaser showing a smartphone trying to break
open from the Amazon India cardboard box. Though there is no mention of
the name of the device, the hash-tag #BrinItOn hints the mystery device
series might be the rumoured second generation Galaxy On7 and On5
series. This teaser comes just days after Samsung devices SM-G570F and
SM-G6100, understood to be the 2016 series Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7
2016, respectively, appeared on benchmarking sites.
Some opine that the new phone might be the recently unveiled Galaxy
J2 (2016), but Samsung in the press event held in Bengaluru on Friday
said that the device will be available both online and brick-and-mortar
stores across India starting July 10.
There is another theory that Samsung might launch much awaited Galaxy
C7 and C5 series. It has been already made available in China and is
due for release in India.
That being said, we still believe that Samsung might unveil the
second generation Galaxy On series, as the device's top display which
pops out of the Amazon box does not match the design language of the C
series, thus ruling out the possibility of the metal-clad device making
the debut next week.
To know what Samsung has in store for fans, we just have to wait a couple of more days.
Among the two, Galaxy On5 (2016) is the low-end model. It is expected to feature 2GB RAM, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and Samsung's Exynos processor.
